As a creative professional, you work with tons of assets every day, such as mockups, stock images, fonts, etc. Over time, these assets can become cluttered and disorganized, making it difficult to find what you need when you need it. But, don’t worry, there’s a simple solution to this problem. In this guide, I’ll show you how to organize your digital assets in a way that is easy to manage and helps you be more productive.

  1. Assess Your Needs:
Start by figuring out what assets you need to organize. For example, if you’re a designer like me, your assets might include design files, mockups, and fonts. Break these assets down into categories and make a list of the categories you need to organize.
  2. Shortlist the Main Categories:
From the list of categories, choose the most important ones that you need to organize. These categories will become the main folders in your new asset organization structure.
  3. Create Main Folders:
Now that you have shortlisted your main categories, create the folders that you need. Make sure the names of the folders are simple and straightforward so that you can easily identify them.
  4. Create Sub-Folders:
Under each main folder, create sub-folders to further categorize your assets. For example, under the “Mockups” folder, you can create sub-folders for “Web Mockups”, “Mobile Mockups”, and “Print Mockups”. Within each of these sub-folders, you can create more sub-folders to further categorize your mockups by type.
  5. Add Assets:
Now that you have your main folders and sub-folders set up, it’s time to add your assets to the appropriate folders. This process might take some time, but it’s worth it to have a clean and organized asset structure.
  6. Regularly Review and Update:
As you continue to create new assets and receive new ones, it’s important to regularly review your asset structure and make updates as necessary. This will help you maintain a clean and organized asset structure over time
